Colourful DIY Wedding in Jersey | Kim Williams Weddings
“You have honestly shown me over the last however many years that weddings can be colourful, joyful, loud, silly and messy. I am not exaggerating when I say that you showed me that it is ok, it is wonderful, to be the bride i ended up being and to have the wedding we ended up creating.”
There are DIY weddings that will live in your heart for decades and there are weddings that come from another heart, where every little detail is there because it means something to them. This DIY wedding in Jersey encapsulated Emily and Maxwell in the most perfect and beautiful way. Emily & Maxwell went for our Destination Wedding package and I would travel to Jersey a million times over to capture the beauty of this island. I spent the morning swimning in Bouley Bay with not another soul in sight. Just me and a couple of puffins… i will be back!
DIY Weddings done right:
Table plans are love letters to every single guest
Ceremony held in your back garden under the apple tree
Outfit was made by your bezzie
Each guest was given a Sake cup from where they now live in Japan
A poem written by a pal is read to you all over cheese and wine
The whole wedding learns an original communal song and sings it in the round
Ceremony is completely unique and special to them, delivered by another bezzie
First dances are celidh bands and you swing until your feet are sore
E thanked me in her speech (quote above) and it honestly meant the world to me. To know that there are folk out there who, like me, grew up not seeing themselves in this part of society that everyone else seemed to just get, finding their way. Seeing themselves. This is what I mean when I encourage the messy and the authentic and the REAL. It is the most beautiful thing in the world to see two sould loving each other, loving those around them, wholly as themselves.
Messy is my favourite kind of beautiful <3
