Nine Ways to Include your Pets At Weddings

Something our clients do incredibly well is find creative, fun ways to include their pets at weddings. I’d say a big old percentage of our couples are like us: in their thirties and childless. Which means that our pets ARE OUR CHILDREN. And yes, we will join in your conversations about your human babies and toddlers and tell we know *exactly* how you feel because we also get woken up at ungodly hours with screams for food…there’s just a few more claws involved. Maybe. I don’t know your kids…

Nine ways to include pets at wedding title
  1. involve them in your pre-wed shoot

Can’t bring them along to the wedding for whatever reason? No biggy. Let’s bring the camera to them and get them included in your pre-wed shoot. Beth and Andrew started their autumnal pre-wed at home with their three cats so we could get some snaps of their furry family before the big day.

2. pets on the danceFloor

Get yourself some cardboard cut outs of your pets and I guarantee by the time the sun sets they will be passed around the dancefloor…

3. Pets at weddings: embroider them onto your outfit

Loz had her beautiful blue wedding dress handmade, and her designer included this incredible piece of their gorgeous kitty! Totally unique and what a way to hold your pet close to your heart eh? (If you want to find out more about their DIY wedding and incredible details then check out this blog).

4. Nip home for cuddles

Whether it’s with your cat, your dog or your Guinea Pigs - if you are close enough to your venue (like these lucky people were) why not schedule in a little home visit after the ceremony or dinner? Your pets get fed and you get a snuggle. Win, win.

5. make them part of your i-do crew

If you have family or pals that are willing to be on partial pet-sitting duty for the day, then make your doggos part of your I Do Crew! Venues like Old Marylebone Town Hall and the Workshop and Loft are pet friendly all day long, so your pups can join your wedding just like any other guests. With the exception that they will be in the most photos…

6. have their many nicknames as the seating plan

I adored how Han & Ben designed their seating chart around the many names they have for their dog Maggie. Using photos and illustrations they DIY-d some incredible table name stands and it was a huge talking point as guests found their seats!

7. turn them into tattoos

Temporary tattoos always go down a storm when I see them at weddings, and it’s so easy to turn your pets into them! Guests will love finding cute and ridiculous spots for their faces and you’ll love how many photos your floofs find their way into.

8. have them ‘host’ a scavenger hunt

Amelia and Richard couldn’t bring their cats to their wedding, and so decided to throw a scavenger hunt in their honour. Saturn and Jupiter hid nine ceramic cats around the park, and post ceremony guests were invited to collect them all!

9. pop them on the cake

It’s a classic - but it always goes down a storm. Pop your pets on the cake and give them the moment they deserve!
