Boardgames, Singalongs & Private vows | Canary Shed

Nestled in the Essex countryside, Canary Shed was one of my fave venues in 2024. Paige & Emily curated a day that was totally unique and personal to them, and the results were magic! Sun, colour, autumnal light - this wedding was a photographers dream. They opted for the All Day Photo package.

Canary Shed Highlights

<3 Private vows in the vineyards as the autumnal sun beats down on you

<3 Gathering your Best People for impromtu Chappell Roan performances

<3 It’s ‘colourful and comfortable’ while paper circles flutter darlings

<3 Walking into a room of swinging napkins and an instrumental version of the Ducktails theme

<3 It’s first looks bathed in golden light under a canary canopy

<3 Sneaking a swig from a hip flask pre-speeches

<3 It’s Grandma enjoying a slice of pizza

<3 It’s forgoing a dance floor for a games room, and the flash of hands reaching to lay Dobble cards, win Mario Kart, ignite old rivalries and begin new ones

<3 Letting go of what weddings ‘should be’

Boardgames, Boardgames, Boardgames

Now. I ADORE a dance floor at a wedding and am often singing at full blast whilst zipping about in the middle of it all. But I’m also a total board game nut (Trist and I had our first date in Loading, Brighton - iykyk) and a massive gamer (currently having the loveliest little cosy time playing Zelda Echo’s of The Past) so when Paige and Emily said they were forgoing a dance floor for a gaming evening my jaw dropped. IT’S. THE. DREAM.

After dinner the tables were rearranged and the epic @gaming4weddings machines wheeled in. Slowly but surely the table full of their personal board games emptied, as groups gathered and picked up Perudo, Dobble, Splendour, Scrawl and so many more to settle in for a night of screaming/crying/laughing/silently plotting. The wii and switch machines were never empty - and it got seriously competitive as tennis matches became tournaments and someone changed Street Fighter to Moving Out and survived.

I cannot recommend it enough. I genuinely didn’t want to leave! And of course, the Canary Shed is the best venue to host it all. Dream clients? Me? Every bloody time.
