Abroad Wedding Goals: Finca Comassema Mallorca

We’ve been so lucky to travel the world and add abroad wedding to this little biz. I never had destination weddings in mind - never really thought they were for me. But people started asking and so I said yes. And then I fell in love with them. From a vineyard in the south of France, to a beach in Phuket. From family fields in Jersey, to the mountains of Mallorca. What a year of travel it’s been 🌍🌏 Jack & Dem chose the All Day Photo & FIlm package and added Super 8 - true destination wedding goals. If you’re pouring your heart and soul into the planning of one of the most important days of your lives, then it makes total sense and get every aspect covered!

Best Bit About Destination Weddings: The Pre-Amble

One of the reasons we love shooting destination weddings is that you typically have more than 1 event planned. There’s an air of excitement when people arrive at the hotels, or when you see people who you know at the airport. The wedding becomes more than just 1 day! Jack & Dem had this in mind when they planned their epic Mallorca wedding. The day before their main wedding event they hired a boat for the afternoon to sail the shores of Mallorca with their nearest and dearest. Despite a minor injury from the drone, this pre-event allowed the couple to spend some quality time with their family and pals in a relaxed environment.

Perhaps the best ceremony ever…

After a coach trip up the winding roads of the Mallorcan mountains, we arrived at the most beautiful ceremony space in Finca Comasemma. As the guests took their seats with umbrellas protecting them from the sun, 2 of their best buds delivered a beautiful and thoughtful wedding ceremony. My favourite part of their ceremony was a surprise for the guests. Under their seats they each had a paddle with Jack’s surname and on side - Davis - and Dem’s on the other - Stamp. These two brave souls decided to let their family and friends hold the fate of who would be changing their surname…

Jack and Demelza Davies?
Or Jack and Demelza Stamp?

After giving everyone a minute to decide, the vote was on. Their three year old nephew (with a little help from some groomsmen) counted the paddles and oooft was it close. But their guests had made a decision…Davis it was!

Wedding Event #3: Paella Party

Again, one of the best bits about having a destination wedding is that you’ve essentially got all your favourite people with you on holiday. After a long lie in and a dip in the sea, it was time for wedding event #3: a paella party at a beach club not far from the hotel. This was a time for people to relax and sip cold white wine by the sea, basking in the memories of the previous wedding day.

It’s all about the Film

We had a couple of days before shooting at @fincacomassema in Mallorca to explore the Island and soak up some rays. Film has always been my go to for holiday photos, and at the start of this year I invested in my dream camera: the leica M6. We took it to the wedding with us and the results were as beautiful as expected. Spanish Riviera & vintage film just go hand in hand.

Why You Should Have an abroad wedding

It is a wild feeling. 155 people have travelled from across the globe to celebrate you. Over a year in the making - you’ve been turning visions into realities, hiring suppliers, writing a personalised ceremony and creating a unique gift with a hand written note for every single guest. And now that it’s here, it’s every single bit exciting as it is overwhelming. The anticipation…the expectations…will it have been worth it all?

Yes. Entirely.

The mountains surrounding Finca Comassema hold space for deep breaths. The Spanish guitar playing ‘Here Comes The Sun’ as you walk down the aisle allows time for tears. There isn’t a soul who hasn’t gasped at the beauty, the time, the effort and the care you have poured into this day. An unforgettable wedding. Thank you Jack & Dem for being the most generous and downright bloody gorgeous humans. Look how many people love you. YOU DID IT!
